is there a way of setting up a front page with buttons that will allow me to
open pages within a work sheet

Yes..........start with Sheet 1, rename it to something like "MainMenu" and
create some drawing objects, squares circles, etc on it and then record
macros to switch to the sheets desired and then assign those macros to the
drawing objects.......you also might want to add a "Return to Main Menu"
button on each sheet.

You could just right-click on the "VCR" buttons at the bottom left corner
(just to the left of the Sheet tabs) to get a pop-up for easy one-click
navigation to the sheets. And if there's a whole lot of sheets, there'll be
a scrollable dialog for easy selection.

Think Jim Cone also has an add-in (XLExtras Release 117 - latest ?) -
available upon direct request - which provides excellent capabilities to
easily insert / create a Table Of Contents (including navigating to
chartsheets) amongst its many features ..

How about a front page with hyperlinks to go where you wish?

Use a large font size and descriptive names for each hyperlink.
