Default relation between 'items' en 'prices'

Hello,
I am trying to make a Quote-spreadsheet. I have a column with items that i
can choose from a list. Now I want anothor column to get automaticly the
right price for that item out of a list. Do I need a formula that says if the
item in cel 'a' is 'x' than the price in cel 'b' is 'y' ? I am new and don't
now how to solve this. Can anybody help me.
Thanks in advance !
