Default Excel 2007: request for help

HI all

Please excuse me if it is a naive question.
I am trying to do something for a small project but my excel knowledge is
limited can you please let me know if it is possible to do the following with
Excel (i have excel 2007)

I have a list of 'x' and 'y' values.

I have a reference list of 'z' values.

Is it possible for excel to look at the X list and and look for the values
corresponding to any or all of the reference list 'z' and pull them out into
a separate table with the associated 'y' value?

Thanks a lot.. your answer would be greatly appreciated..

Cheers
