Please write the question in the body of the message
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/sortws.htm What do you mean by calculating a letter, count it, calculating a value associated with it? -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "kristi _ 71" wrote in message ... |

Hi
Jason answered a similar question posted about 1.5 hrs before yours this way: ---------- =IF(A1="Y",5,IF(A1="N",2,"")) If you have a lot of letters you need to convert, then I'd suggest creating a table and using VLOOKUP. See here for a tutorial: http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions02.html HTH Jason Atlanta, GA ------------- if this isn't what you're looking for, please repost with more details in the message body of your post as to what you're actually trying to achieve.
