Default data analysis

I am looking to create a formula for projecting a variable from two
other variables. I have done this in previous versions of excel years
ago. I was able to have excel calcuate an "R" factor. I used the "R"
factor to develop a liner equation. Can anybody help with how to
calculate this "R" factor for a 2 variable equation?
