Excel 2007 Documents do not show up in my Windows XP Professional sp2 Start
Menu's Recently Used Documents list. The Excel 2007 file types are in my PC's Registry. I know the list will not show .exe files because of some kind of filter. I'd think though that Excel 2007 files should show up on the list like however because Excel's previous version files do. I tried writing a macro using the SHAddToRecentDocs API call but it doesn't work with these new Excel 2007 file types. I got the macro to add other Excel files of old versions of Excel but not files in the Excel 2007 file types. Word 2007 Documents do appear on the list. So far as I can tell, the issue is only with the new Excel 2007 file formats: both regular and macro-enabled files. Can anyone help? How can I submit this as a bug to Microsoft? Are they working on it now? Thanks. Jim. |

Hi Jim,
They show up on my recently used file list. Are you using a beta version of 2007? To All:
I ran the Excel 2007 Diagnostics in Help and in the 27th of 27 step of the diagnostic which is for Excel to check and repair Setup Issues it found 1 error and corrected everything. Everything is working like a champ now!!! Special thanks to Microsoft for the Office Excel Diagnostics and ShaneDevenshire for his help which inspired me to believe it was my problem and not a program bug which led me to run the Diagnostic. I'm glad to report this issue is Closed. :) Jim. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "ShaneDevenshire" wrote: Hi Jim, They show up on my recently used file list. To clarify:
I'm talking about the *** Windows XP Pro sp2 Start Button's Menu's Recent Documents List *** ... Not the one inside of the Excel 2007 application. Are both lists showing your Excel 2007 recent documents for files in the new: ..xlsx and .xlsm file formats? If so, do you think I need to uninstall and reinstall Excel 2007? Thanks for the clarification, I have varified the same behavior on my version
which is not a trial version but the final release. So apparently you have found a bug. I'll check elsewhere. -- Cheers, Shane Devenshire "Jim" wrote: To clarify: I'm talking about the *** Windows XP Pro sp2 Start Button's Menu's Recent Documents List *** ... After a while....... Presto! If your PC is like mine, your problem will be fixed in the last step of the diagnostic. I think Microsoft may owe us each a tech support paycheck $$$ for figuring this out, maybe?
