Default Calculating daily hours (as text) in the weekly total formula

I am baffled as to how to get my spreadsheet to recognize the daily
totals and accumulate to equal weekly hours...
i.e. COLUMN 1: 7:45 AM COLUMN 2: 6:00 PM COLUMN 3 (SUM OF ROW 1 & 2)
AND IT PROGRESSES THROUGH THE WEEK, BUT WHEN I TRY TO GET MY TOTALS COLUMN TO
READ COLUMN 3.

7:45 AM in A1, 6:00 PM in B1, =B1-A1 in C1 gives 10:15 if you format the
result as [h]:mm, and if you keep that format in column C you can total the
numbers for the week.
