Why not set up a look up table to assign the No you want against any letter

Try using
=code(s) This gives the ascii code for the character. maybe you want to do =code(lcase(s)) to eliminate the upper and lowercase split. -- Hope this helps Martin Fishlock, Bangkok, Thailand Please do not forget to rate this reply.
