Does anone know how to assign value to letters in Excel?

Why not set up a look up table to assign the No you want against any letter
you wish. you could then use vlookup to extract a number of any letter.

Try using

=code(s)

This gives the ascii code for the character.

maybe you want to do

=code(lcase(s))

to eliminate the upper and lowercase split.
