Default dates

I am using A1-TODAY() to get a count down on the days remaining between two
date .
But when i enter the dates in a1 ...any date like 1/1/08 it tells me that
"The date you entered is before the current date .you must enter a date after
today"
what give????

Default dates

Excel has probably automatically formatted the cell with the formula in it as
a date, and it hates negative dates. Try formatting the cell as General.

Default dates

Do you have Data Validation for A1? Have you checked the settings?
