A3 is a metric paper size but Excel seems to allow only A4, A6 and B5 metric

Excel will allow A3 if your printer and its driver will do so.

From a Google search of Excel newsgroups it seems Excel gets it allowed
paper sizes from the printer driver. How do you get an A3 worksheet in Excel
A4 is the normal paper size used in Europe (approx 8.25" x 11.67") - A3
is twice the size (area). In response to the OP, this depends on whether your printer will support this size of paper. Go to File | Page Setup | Page (tab) and select Options... which will take you to your printer settings. Select as appropriate. Hope this helps.
