Default How do I get gender, race, age percentages from my spreadsheet?

I have a spreadsheet for a large group of students. It contains many pieces
of data, such as age, race, gender, family members, etc. How can I get the
data sorted by percentages? For example, what % of students are Hispanic?
what % of students are male? I can do this all by hand, but is there a
function key? Should I try this in another program (not Excel)?
