Default Check box formatting

I received an Excel file with check boxes that show the box as a flat
view not 3-D. I am not able to duplicate it with the Control Toolbox
selection of Check Box. When I choose Check Box I always get a 3-D box
and there does not appear to be a way to change the appearance.
However, there must be a method of changing the appearance I just don't
know how. Anyone have an idea? I appreciate your help.
