Default Data Validation Lists

I am filling text into a cells by using
Data--Validation--Lists.
This won't let me enter anything in the cell that is
not on the list.
Is there any way to just write something different
right in the cell (that is not on the list)?
OR is there a better way to accomplish fby
using a different procedure
thanks
Raymond.

Default Data Validation Lists

On the 'Error Alert' tab, uncheck the 'Show error after invalid data is
entered' button
