formula seen in cell but not working
I have a spreadsheet with formulas. Everything quit working one week ago.
When I click on the cells, the formula appears above, but the formula is not adding the column. Don't think I have done anything different. What could have happened? |

Have you tried pressing F9? maybe the auto calc is unchecked.

I wonder how it change by itself. weird. |

To answer the "I wonder" question.
ToolsOptionsCalculation can be Auto or Manual. Excel takes the Calculation mode each session from the settings on the first workbook opened in that session. i.e. If you saved Book1 with calc mode in manual and opened it first, calc mode would be in Manual. If you saved Book2 with calc mode in auto and opened it after Book1, Book2 would be in manual mode(Excel ignores the auto calc mode in this case). If you close Book1 before opening Book2, Book2 will be in auto calc mode. Confusing enough? <g Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Wed, 1 Nov 2006 12:04:02 -0800, Angel wrote: I had the same thing happen to me. Strange? Anyways, the fix to auto calculation worked for me. Another thing I've noticed and might be helpful to others having this problem
is: If you change the format of your cell to "TEXT" where there is a formula and then try to re-edit your formula, it will not work. It basically treats your fomula like text. Turn your cell back to General for your formula to work. -- TT "Gord Dibben" wrote: To answer the "I wonder" question. ToolsOptionsCalculation can be Auto or Manual.
