Try this:
Select the range you want impacted From the Excel main menu: Press the [F5] key....(its the shorcut for<edit<goto ) Click the [special cells] button ChecK: Blanks Click the [OK] button (now all the blank cells are selected) Type: '- (that's an apostrophe and a dash...if you just type a dash, Excel will try to build a formula) Hold down the [ctrl] key and press the [enter] key (that will put the dash in every selected cell) Does that help? *********** Regards, Ron XL2002, WinXP "Colin Hayes" wrote: Hi In column A , I have some cells which contain text , and others which are blank. Minor correction......
You don't need to put an apostrophe in front of the dash. *********** Regards, Ron XL2002, WinXP "Ron Coderre" wrote: Try this: Select the range you want impacted From the Excel main menu: Press the [F5] key....(its the shorcut for<edit<goto ) Click the [special cells] button ChecK: Blanks Click the [OK] button (now all the blank cells are selected) Type: '- (that's an apostrophe and a dash...if you just type a dash, Excel will try to build a formula) Hold down the [ctrl] key and press the [enter] key (that will put the dash in every selected cell) Does that help? *********** Regards, Ron XL2002, WinXP "Colin Hayes" wrote: Hi In column A , I have some cells which contain text , and others which are blank.
