Populating empty cells

Hi

In column A , I have some cells which contain text , and others which
are blank.

Is there a formula which will fill the empty ones with a dash (-) ,
whilst leaving the full ones intact?

Hope you can help.

Hi

Select the range of cells. Hit F5 and select Blanks from the Special page.
Then type - and hit Ctrl+Enter.

Hope this helps.
Andy.

Try this:

Select the range you want impacted

From the Excel main menu:
Press the [F5] key....(its the shorcut for<edit<goto )
Click the [special cells] button
ChecK: Blanks
Click the [OK] button

(now all the blank cells are selected)

Type: '-
(that's an apostrophe and a dash...if you just type a dash, Excel will try
to build a formula)

Hold down the [ctrl] key and press the [enter] key
(that will put the dash in every selected cell)

Does that help?

Minor correction......
You don't need to put an apostrophe in front of the dash.
