Default Is there a way to test color formatting in countIF functions?

I'm trying to enter a formula that will check is see if a "D" is blue or
black, and add up them.

I am doing a nursing schedule, and some are blue and some are black D's. I
need to add up each separately. So far I've only been able to get the total
of them, and not the separate counts.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How do I use these? I installed the VBA add-in, but it does not work.

I'm not sure what add-in you're referring to. I was pointing you to one
of Chip's User Defined Functions (UDFs).

If you're not familiar with macros, see David McRitchie's "Getting
Started with Macros and User Defined Functions":
