Give a name to the source range. Then, in the validation dialog's
Source-field, refer to this named range (try F3 to pick up the name). Mika Oukka "DCG-jaeson" wrote in message ... DropDown List (Validation) from other worksheet
Ok, no problem. I'll try (Should work in 2000):
1.Go to Sheet2 and select this area A1:A4 2.From the menu, choose Insert-Name-Define... 3.Type the desired name e.g. MyArea (Note while giving a name: Can not start with digit and can not conflict with cell addresses. No symbols, spaces. e.g. ILLEGAL names A1, %ABC, 1ACB, abc def) 4.Click OK 5.Select the sheet and cell where you wish to have the list. 6.Data-Validation..."Allow"-field: list 7."Source"-field: type the range name you gave earlier or while cursor blinking press F3 to choose name 8. OK Hope this helps Mr Mika :) "DCG-jaeson" wrote in message ... DropDown List (Validation) from other worksheet
Highlight the cells that contain the valid data (I suspect this is in
B1 across, from your description). Then click on Insert | Name | Define, and in the dialogue box you can give a name to that highlighted range, e.g. you might call it "valid_ID" (without the quotes) and you can see at the bottom of the dialogue box that this name will refer to the cells that you have highlighted. Then in your data validation dialogue on the other sheet, under Allow you should select List and type in: valid_ID (or whatever name you have chosen). Hope this helps.
