Default Read and Write Access Database

I want to create a excel workbook for leave application.
When the applicant open the workbook. It will checks the number of annual
leave from a access database and checks the name of department head.

I am going to user Environ("USERNAME") to check the login in of applicant to
map the data.

after the applicant submit the from. an e-mail will be created and sent to
the department head. (my idea is attached another excel file, the file has
"Approve" and "Disapprove" button)

once department head approve the application, data will be writen to
database to reduce the number of annual leave.

if applicant wants to cancel the application, same concept.

i think marcos can read and write and data from access but i have no idea.
where can i find the code or example?
Any others idea or suggestion to me about the procedure?
Thank you very much.
