Default Excel with MS Project

It is my understanding that an excel spreadsheet can include resource
information e.g. workers hourly wages to include overtime after a set number
of hours as well as equipment hourly rates. These costs can be imported into
microsoft project so that the excel data can be used in project calculations.
Seeking guidance on the existence of a template or guidance on how one can
craft such a spreadsheet. Guidance sought

(If you have Project installed) The best way is to export a complete project
file from MSProject to excel and use that as the template...

Much thanks for your timely reply. I actually want to import an excel
spreadsheet into project. I've tried to import hourly rates with no success
and I've yet to insert rate information in a way that can be seen by Project.
Your continued guidance is appreciated.
