how might it be acheived?

One column in a multi column List box requires colours.

Can you put a list box on tip of an existing one, ending up
with an individual one for each row and thus a colour property
for each row? Or is that silly? Would a frame help? Could the
column be built as a graphic and put on the list box ?

i don't think this is possible with the default list boxes that comes with
excel. they are just not that sophisticated.
you can have back color but its all one color or nothing.
you can have font color but again. one color or nothing.
and stacking listboxes on one another...i don't know how to link the rows
and selecting within the list box would be near impossible and i don't even
want to think about what all the code would look like. eeee. scary.
and what would a frame do????
the only way to get data into a list box is with the list fill range
property or the add item. no graphics.

i have had former co workers claim that they downloaded activeX controls
from the net and used them in access and excel but i have personally never
done this and i don't know if such a list box as you discribed exists. but
you can try.
