Default macro for pivot tables

I have been trying to record a macro to do pivot tables and just can't make
it work. Tried many things and have discovered the PT has to be on the same
sheet as the source data and I have to remove existing pivot table(s), close
and reopen the file to reset the numbering of the tables and it still doesn't
work in my setting. That setting is that the backup (source data) sheets
have been removed and re-created by exporting from Access between the
recording and running of the macro. THe sheet names are the same beuase they
are created automatically by the Access macro but the Excel macro doesn't
seem to recognize them.
