If you let excel do the heavy lifting, you'll see it works the same way.
Instead of typing the formula, use the mouse to select the ranges. Open both workbooks type: =vlookup(a1, and then use Window to select your other workbook. select the worksheet that has the table select the range that contains the table and finish up the formula--like: ,3,false) Excel will adjust the formula when you close the "sending" workbook.
