Default File in use

When I use a macro to open a file and the file is already in use it does not
give me the message of:
__________________________________________________ __

File in use:
_ _ _ _ _ is locked for editing

by _ _ _ _ _

Open ReadOnly or click Notifiy ...........

__________________________________________________ __

What it does is just open the file ReadOnly. How can I return this message?

Thank you,

Steven

What about the Display Alerts being set to true so that it will display the
warning? I cannot remember the syntax for it, and I have personally never
used it, so I thought you could verify that, Joel. Thanks.

Display Alerts = True does not fix it.

I have tried:

If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly = True Then
MsgBox "File in use by: " + ActiveWorkbook.WriteReservedBy
End If

but that returned my userid and not the person who had it open.

Does anyone have any ideas here?

Thank you,

Steven
