Default Auto Filter Problem

To those that see my code below...It creates an auto filter. When I
click down on the drop down, I get a graphic of a hand/finger pointer,
which does nothing. Any ideas as to what is happening here?

Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.TextToColumns Destination:=Range("A1"),
DataType:=xlFixedWidth, _
FieldInfo:=Array(Array(0, 1), Array(12, 1), Array(34, 1),
Array(47, 1), Array(59, 3)) _
, TrailingMinusNumbers:=True
Cells.Select
Selection.Columns.AutoFit
Selection.AutoFilter
Range("A2").Select
ActiveWindow.FreezePanes = True
Range("A1").Select

In advance, thank you for your generous time and attention,
JR

JR,

It sounds like your sheet is protected without the "Use AutoFilter" option.
You can check that option either in the worksheet protect dialog or in code.
