Default WHY EDIT-FILL-"SERIES" OPTION cannot be seen in one particular sh

Excel 97: In one of the workbook, in the -edit-fill- the 'series' option is
not highlighted but in rest of the workbooks the 'series' option is
highlighted.

Unfortunately, that sheet has lots of places where I have to use serial
numbers and without that option -series- I am unable to fill the numbers
--like if the last number is 300, i am unable to go to a299 and mark till
a300 and drag the plus sign to fill till 400.

Trust me, posted this many times and never get assistance. Pls tell me what
could be the reason for not having this option in just one workbook. For
your information the sheet is not protected.

Can anyone suggest how to activate it using VB as even after resetting the
tool bars still I dont get to see the -series- option highlighted.
