Default unable to set the Orientation property of the PivatField class

I am getting an "unable to set the Orientation property of the PivatField
class" error when adding a field to my pivot table (.Orientation =
xlDataField).

#the strange thing is I get the error when I use some data but not when I
use other - and I don't think there is any difference of setting on the data.

Do you know how UI can prevent this error.
Many thanks,
Dan
