Default Making a selection while using a formula in case of redundant records?

Hi there!,

I am having difficulties with the following spreadsheet.
In worksheet 2 I stuffed a database with names and telephonenumbers (divided
over 3 colums)

Example
A1 B1 C1
Surname Full name Telnr
Aa F.C. van der Aa 9745
Aa M.H. van der Aa 7145
Aa V.P. van de Aa-Mei 3421

This databases comprises 2500 records.

In worksheet 1 I use the cells in one column as inputvalue, whereas this
value is looked up within the database. The problem is possible redundancy
in column 1 of the database, which may contain more than one
surname that is exactly the same (e.g : Aa exists 3 times!)

The problem might be solved in worksheet 1 by validating the cells in the
ïnput-column". However: the list that appears in each cell comtains 2500
items and hence this is not a very practical way of choosing the right name
from a list.

Is there another solution (no VBA-solution please)

Regards,

Ruud
