VERY SLOW EXCEL 2007
Hi, I have recently installed Excel 2007 Home & Student. Unfortunatley
everything seems to take 10X longer to do. Any suggestions as to what I can do to speed this up. I have done everything I know to do on my system setup ie Deleted unused programmes, defrag, disk clean up etc. Many thanks Gavin |

VERY SLOW EXCEL 2007
Exactly what are you doing with your Excel files? If there are a lot of
shape objects such as charts and graphs, that will definitely slow things down. I've also experienced noticeable slowdown in the handling of user defined functions in 2007 as compared to how fast they ran under earlier versions of Excel on a slower machine. Also, what is the hardware configuration of your system: how much memory is installed and what type processor (make/model) is in it? VERY SLOW EXCEL 2007
Adding to Jerry's answer
If you don't have a dual core processor, turning off multi-threading ion Excel options can help, also Use the .xlsb format for speed. If it is an upgrade check you have upgraded personal.xls to xlsx or xlsm is it has code and book.xlt and sheet.xlt if you have them Work wherever possible in the new format as the old ones in compatibility mode are slow. VERY SLOW EXCEL 2007
the only suggestion i have is to go back to xl2003. i have simple code that runs
half as fast in vista/xl2007 than it does in xp/xl2003. i have not upgraded any of my clients to either one of those, just too many issues. -- Gary "Gavin" wrote in message ... Have you run the Microsoft Diagnostics Tool in the Office Tools Folder under
All Programs, Microsoft Office. This may find a problem. -- Saruman --------------------------------------------------------------------------- All Outgoing Mail Scanned By Norton Antivirus 2003 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Gavin" wrote in message ... VERY SLOW EXCEL 2007
Hi, thanks for the help so far.
No shapes or graphs being used. Fairly large spread sheets with formulas & macro's. Processor 1.60 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP 128 kilobyte primary memory cache 256 kilobyte secondary memory cache Hope this answers your questions.
