Default lost .xla

i wasn't clear on one of my posts (not the one chip responded to--thx).
upon opening excel, i get this message:

'C:\Documents and Settings\mike\my files\test.xla' could not be found.
Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is
correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of
most recently used files on the File menu, make sure that the file has not
been renamed, removed, or deleted.'

the .xla is not in this folder (my files) anymore b/c i moved it. i have
reactivated the .xla in the new folder via tools--add ins, but when i
re-open excel, excel greets me w/ the same message as above. I wish to
permanently have excel look for this .xla in the new folder ('C:\Documents
and Settings\mike\xla store\test.xla). any ideas? thanks.

Mike,

I've gone through this before myself but couldn't remember the answer
without creating an addin, moving it, etc., so you owe (provided this works
for you) <g.

1. Open Excel and click OK on the message you describe below
2. Open ToolsAddins and click on the offending addin
3. When prompted to delete because Excel can't find, do so
4. Close Tools Addins
5. Close Excel <<<<< Important
6. Open Excel, then ToolsAddins, browse to the new location, and continue
on as normal!

For some reason Excel needs to be closed between deleting the old occurence
from the list and adding it back in again.

hth,

Doug
