Default echo on/off - does vba for excell support?

I want to hide the screen while a script is running, so I don't have to
watch the screen flash as data is inserted.

with other languages I've used the echo on/off command to achieve this, but
I don't see anything similar in excel VBA for excel 97

Any Ideas?

Paul
