Default Formula Scientific Notation Problem

I have a problem with an excel formula. This formula uses an add-in to
go to a different program and pull information. When I use the formula
to pull a security cusip some of them come back with an E imbedded in
the number. This causes it to become a scientific number in excel. I
can't change it to text because it won't calculate the formula. Is
there anyway to make the number return a text number?
