Default Is MAPI or CDO installed?

I have an app which needs to send emails with attachments, using the
default email program. The problem is, it may be installed on a site
with MAPI (eg Outlook 97), or maybe with CDO (eg Outlook 2003), or
maybe with both (I think Win2k does this). I won't know what email
client is installed - could be Outlook or Eudora or Lotus Notes or ...
whatever.

Can anyone help me to find out which is installed? MAPI would be the
preferred method, as CDO requires the user to know the name of the
email server (which requires involvement of their technical staff - not
always easy or speedy).

Many thanks in advance!!
