Default On hard drive, how do I restore .XLS prior to last save?

I saved an Excel worksheet without knowing that I sorted the information
wrong. Now I have no idea how to fix it and cannot find a past version of the
spreadsheet. Is there any way to find a previous version in the hard drive? I
never emailed it or did a "Save As" with the file.

1. Are there any backups made of your documents?

2. Try a search on a part of the workbook name.

There aren't any backups and all my searches lead me to the same file. Any
other ideas?

Unless there is a print out somewhere, or if you can find one of those super
computer people you see on the tv shows...

Your options a
1. Search your memory
2. Figure out what goes where
3. Start from scratch

Sorry for your loss!

For me - to avoid this happening -
when working with an important file - I name it with a rev #
"MyBookRev1"
than each time I open it to make new edits - I first Save-As with a new
Rev #
This way I can always go back to previous versions...

In other cases - I periodically save a copy to another drive, disk, etc.
The really astute users have a regular backup routine.
