Default Where is the computer's archive?

I have lost a file. I found it in a folder in the recycle bin. I thought I
restored it, but still cannot find it. After trying to restore another file,
I realized archive was automatically checked. I was unable to change it from
being checked. I believe the file I am looking for may be in the archive,
but do not know how to find it. I have searched every other possible file.
