digital certificate being discarded from a shared workbook

I have a shared workbook that continues to discard the digital signature that
is attached to it. It happen at different times, sometimes when the file is
left open when no actions at all are being performed. Any reason for a
digital certificate to be discarded when no changes are made to VBA code in
the workbook?
