Default Protecting Multiple Workbooks?

Is there a way to password protect mutiple Excel workbooks at the same
time without using an external utlity? To my knowledge, only one Excel
workbook can be saved and given a password at a time, but protecting
several at a time would be a real time saver.

You could have a macro that opens the workbook and saves it with a password
(then closes it).

Or is that an external utility?
