Default Running Macros when opening Excel

the question was when you open excel...

so you must open a file first that has a workbooK_open eventhandler.

that can be: any activated addin.
any file in the xlstart folder
any file in the folder listed under:
tools/options/General
"at startup, open ALL files in"

that's exactly what I mean, thanks

If you mean when you open an existing workbook try putting your
code in:

Private Sub Workbook_Open()

End Sub

Is it possible to set up a macro that automatically runs when
you open excel?

Thanks
