Default Import Dat from Oracle - pls help

Harald,

That was very helpful. I have another question though. How do I find out
what the server name is?? It comes up in the data sources and I usually just
pick it.

Sorry I'm very new to macros

Cheers,
Wags

Hi Wags

Copy the SQL statement from Query (SQL button) and into a textfile or
wherever. Then try the approach described at http://tinyurl.com/6mwwv

HTH. Best wishes Harald

Hi,

I'm having trouble importing data from Oracle. I have set up queries in
microsoft query and they work fine, but they do not import in excel.

Excel
just sits there thinking then crashes. I'm using excel 2003. Any help

would
be great.

Thx,
Wags

Default Import Dat from Oracle - pls help

Hi again

Glad it was of help.

See if your computer has a file named "tnsnames.ora". On my system it's in
the folder
C:\Program Files\Oracle\network\ADMIN
but it may vary. Anyway, it's a simple text file. Open it in notepad and
there it is.

If not then you can try the control panel settings, find the ODBC sources
dialog and see how they are configured.

HTH. Best wishes Harald
