Default Strange AutoProtecting of cells

I have a macro which goes to an unprotected sheet(sheet A), selects
a3:b6, copies it, and pastes it in a protected sheet(sheet B). The
protected sheet only has protection on for formulae, and NOT over the
cells where the text is being pasted.

WIth protection off on both sheets works fine.
With protection on (in sheet B)get an error msg, effectively it is not
allowing the text to be pasted because it appears that the cells in
Sheet B (a3:b6)which were previously unlocked, are now locked.

any ideas...?

a3 to b6 in
