Default Excel launches in a separate window

I have excel spreadsheets under a Windows Sharepoint Site. Prior to the
upgrade to Office 2003, these excel spreadsheets launched inside the browser
window. Now, excel is launching as a separate window. Surely this is a
simple setting somewhere, but I can't find it. I've tried the folder
options settings under Windows Explorer, but this has no impact.

Did you try the check box under
windows explorer
Tools - Folder Options
select File Types tab
Scroll down to XLS and click the advanced button at bottom
the check box Browse in same window should be checked
