Ever since I had an Excel crash days ago, the shortcut to personal.xls in
XLStart forlder stopped working (Excel not loading personal.xls).
If I copy the file personal.xls to the XLStart folder(in stead of the
shortcut), personal.xls is loaded.

Shortcut used to be working.

What's the matter here?

BTW, after the crash, my personal toolbars not loading properly. The
toolbars are created, but no buttons are added.

Hi Jackie,

The actual *.xlb file belongs in the same directory that your xlstart directory is in
not within xlstart.

If you don't have an *.xlb file, meaning Excel doesn't see it where it should
be, then Excel will create one and name it properly. It will always be saved everytime
you close Excel whether you make changes or not.

I would backup any and all *.xlb files that you find on your system, before trying to
do anything else, and note their dates, and sizes.

Check to make sure you have the toolbars active.that you are looking for,
do you see anything like the following after you use
View, Toolbars, ===== toolbars 1, toolbars 2, toolbars 3 and/or
custom 1, custom 2 , custom 3

I would make changes to your toolbars with all Excel files closed
except for your personal.xls file.
