Default #VALUE! when adding numbers

Hi All,

I have created a monster spreadsheet that pulls in data from other
spreadsheets (12 in all).

Now I have it pull the information from each spreadsheet into its own rows.

I then have a total so (=a1+a2+a3+a4 etc) but it is returning the error
#VALUE!

Now I believe this is because the data I'm adding is formatted as text even
though its a number. How can I format this back to be truly a number?

Many Thanks for your assistance.
