Default locating given dates from each year in data set

I have a sheet with a bunch of dates in Column A:
For charting purposes, that I am trying to automate, I need Excel to locate
the earliest date in the fiscal year cycle. In our case, the date is as
close to =10/1 of any given year. I also need to be able to do this for
each
FY in the data set.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
