Default DIR function and compressed folders

I am using Excel 2002 SP3 under Windows XP Pro 2002 SP1. I can use the DIR
function to identify and interrogate folders but it doesn't seem to recognise
compressed folders. Is there a way of obtaining a list of the file names and
creation dates for files in a compressed folder?
Thanks,
Graham
