Default Simple?? sort question

At my work, there are several excel sheets, now I want to sort on colum
A.
But it needs to be sorted on the length of the record with the longes
entree first.

For example:

a dog
a very small dog
a small dog

Needs to be sorted as:
A very small dog
a smaal dog
a dog.

Is this possible, how can I sort this.
