Default updating Excel from DotNet

Hi!!
I am trying to update an Excel file from Asp.Net (through
COM). But, as I understand I think I should have Excel
installed on that machine. Is this true or installing just
the Interop.excel.dll suffice ? Also, how do I avoid the
permission issues when I open the Excel file from an
Asp.net web page.

Thanks for any info!!
