Default error 50290

i have a program that accesses Bloomberg DDE server to download data.
loops through a list of securities to get the available options on
each security, and then it gets data for each one of the options that
it finds. it seems to always get the options without any problems,
but when it trys to find the data for the options (eg strike, spot,
maturity, etc) it sometimes either just stops or it returns error
50290. our office recently moved over to excel 2003 and windows xp,
and since we moved over that's when the problem started happening very
consistently (basically every time i run the program). ive read
extensively articles that ive found by googling and in
groups.google.com about this error, i've implemented EVERY suggestion
and none of them seem to work. i really need to work out a solution,
can someone here PLEASE take a look (esp if there's anyone else out
there with the same environment excel 2003, xp and bloomberg dde
links) that would be really helpful to me. thanks, raj sood

While waiting for someone with first hand experience - have you contacted
Bloomberg to see if this is a known issue/has a fix?

i have spoken w/bloomberg api analytics, they are certain its not their
problem but rather a bug with microsoft! and if you read some of the
posts on groups.google.com, they may be right... thanks.
