Default Query - SQL to Excel

Hi there

I am querying a SQL database. Up to now I have brought all records
into Excel and manipulated the data from there.

The date is an example as the date is a text field in dd-mm-yyyy
format. I have used a formula to convert this into an Excel number
type date.

Is there a way to "convert" the date during the import process so that
the selection could be based on a date range.

Alternatively can a temporary field/ variable, outside the database,
be used for this purpose somehow.

As the database now exceeds Excel's maximum of 65536 rows, I am now
desparate for a solution.

Thanks in anticipation.

Michael
